Window Tinting in Washington, NJ
Window tint does more than change how a car looks. The right film cuts glare, keeps the cabin cooler on summer days, blocks UV rays that fade and crack interiors, and adds privacy for whatever you leave on the back seat. Done well, it also gives the car a clean, finished look that matches from front to back.
At Appearance Plus in Washington, NJ, we install window film in our indoor shop, where dust and wind are kept to a minimum. Each piece is cut to fit your glass, heat-shrunk to follow the curve of the window, and squeegeed down carefully so the edges are tight and the film is clear once it cures.
Tint pairs well with our other services. Many customers book it alongside a detail or ceramic coating, and because body repair and powder coating happen in the same shop, a car can come back fully finished in one visit.
- Reduced heat & glare
- Blocks harmful UV rays
- Added privacy
- Clean, finished look
What's Included
Full vehicle tint
Side windows and rear glass tinted together for an even look and full heat and UV reduction throughout the cabin.
Front windows to match
Many vehicles come from the factory with darker rear glass and clear front windows. We can tint the front side windows so the car looks more uniform. Because New Jersey restricts front side window tint, we will go over the current rules and your options first.
Windshield strip or visor
A strip across the top of the windshield helps cut sun glare when driving into early morning or late afternoon light.
Old film removal
Purple, faded or bubbling tint makes a car look neglected and can be hard to see through. We remove the old film and clean off the adhesive, including careful work around rear defroster lines, before new film goes on.
Custom cut and heat-formed fit
Film is trimmed to the shape of each window and heat-shrunk to curved glass like rear windshields, so it lies flat without creases or lifting edges.
Headlight and taillight tint

Our Process
- 1
Choose your film and shade
We talk about your goals, whether that is heat, glare, privacy or looks, and show you shade options. Price and timing depend on the vehicle and the film, and we confirm both before we start.
- 2
Glass prep
Windows are cleaned thoroughly inside and out, and any old film and adhesive is removed. Door panels and seals are protected so water and cleaning solution stay where they belong.
- 3
Cutting and heat shrinking
Film is patterned to each window. On curved glass, it is shaped with heat on the outside of the window so it matches the curve exactly before installation.
- 4
Installation
The film goes on the inside of the glass and is squeegeed firmly to push out the mounting solution and air. Edges are finished neatly along the top of the glass and around the frame.
- 5
Cure and aftercare
Tint needs time to cure. Keep the windows rolled up for a few days after installation so the edges set, and expect some haze or small water pockets at first, which clear as the film dries. We will give you specific aftercare instructions at pickup.
Options & Related Services
Ceramic coating
Protect the paint while you are protecting the interior. A ceramic coating makes the car easier to keep clean and adds gloss.
Paint protection film
Clear film on the hood, bumper and mirrors helps guard against stone chips, and pairs well with tint for full coverage.
Interior detail
Have the cabin cleaned before or alongside your tint so the glass and interior start fresh.
Wheel powder coating
Blacked-out windows and freshly coated wheels are a popular combination. Your wheels can be done while the car is in for tint.
Exterior detail and paint correction
Polish out swirls and restore gloss so the whole vehicle looks as sharp as the new glass.
Why Appearance Plus
A clean tint job comes down to prep and patience: spotless glass, a careful cut and time spent heat-forming the film. We work in an indoor shop in Washington, NJ, which keeps dust out of the film, and we take the time to get the edges right. Since we also detail, repair bodywork and powder coat, we pay attention to how the whole car looks when it leaves.
New Jersey restricts tint on the windshield and front side windows, and the rules can change. We recommend checking the current NJ regulations for your vehicle, and we will talk through your options with you before any film goes on. We serve drivers from Washington and nearby towns across Warren, Hunterdon and Morris County.
Window Tinting FAQ
Is window tint legal in New Jersey?
New Jersey restricts tint on the windshield and front side windows. Rules can change, so check the current NJ regulations for your vehicle. We will talk through your options before we start, but we cannot give legal advice.
Can you remove my old, bubbling tint?
Yes. We remove old film and the adhesive left behind, taking care around rear defroster lines, then install fresh film on clean glass.
When can I roll my windows down?
Keep them up for a few days so the film can cure and the edges can bond. We will give you exact aftercare instructions when you pick up the car.
Why does my new tint look hazy or have small bubbles?
A little haze or small water pockets are normal while the mounting solution dries out. They usually clear on their own as the film cures. If something does not clear up, call us and we will take a look.
How long does a tint appointment take?
It depends on the vehicle, how many windows are being done, and whether old film needs to come off. We confirm timing when you book.
How do I get a quote?
Call the Washington, NJ shop at (908) 894-8147 or use the contact form with your vehicle and the windows you want tinted, and we will get back to you.
